Join us for this year's parenting conference event. Taught by Pastors Jeff & Tammy Zubeck.
A message from the speakers: We are not asking you to come hear what we have to say because we think we're perfect parents or that our kids are perfect. We're not going to just tell you to do what we did. We're also not going to solve every problem and answer every question you have in under two hours.
So, What ARE We Going to Do?
What we are going to do is share some Biblical insight, often confirmed through our experience that is designed to help you see that you've got this. We want to give you some good information and food for thought and we want to be your cheerleader. We want to help you win. We also aim to cover topics relevant to parents at all stages -- preparation for having kids, young children, teens, and adult children. I guess we're gonna have to talk quickly!
See below for some of the types of topics we will discuss.
Pastors Jeff & Tammy Zubeck are the lead pastors of Living Word Ahwatukee. They have been happily married for over 30 years and have four adult children who love and serve the Lord. They share from both the successes and failures along the way. They both thoroughly enjoy teaching God's Word and making it easily understood and applicable with healthy doses of personal humility and humor. It's great to laugh while we learn.
Having raised four children with vastly different personalities, trying to do things the same way with all four children would have failed miserably. What should be consistent are the standards we set. However, how we get to the those standards can vary tremendously between children. Personality and temperament don't exempt a child from the standards. As parents we have to pray for and learn how to reach each unique child.
Technology and social media are a part of most kids' worlds -- and at earlier and earlier ages. This is one specific area where there is not likely a single set of answers that will apply to every child. The Bible doesn't tell us at what age a child can have a cell phone. We're going to have to rely on wisdom and discernment from the Lord. We're going to talk about some of the things to look for to determine what, if any, online interaction YOUR child(ren) should have and at what age. We will also talk about some danger signs to watch for.
When we follow Godly wisdom and instruction in raising our children we see that we are making deposits at every stage of their lives -- from infancy and into adulthood. Even after your children grow up and move out, you still have a place as their parent. It's not the same place and that's okay. We want to do the hard work along the way so that our adult children continue to value our advice in their adult lives. We'll discuss some ways to handle (and not handle) situations where our adult children make choices contrary to the way they were raised.
There is no charge for this event and childcare is free. Just make sure to let us know you'll need childcare on the registration page.
